Abstract Remote sensing monitoring of mine is a basic survey with Chinese characteristics. The theory and the technological system on remote sensing monitoring of mine have been founded tentatively, and the technical regulation on remote sensing monitoring of mining exploration had been formulated between 2006 and 2010. Through a comprehensive study of the remote sensing survey and monitoring results of recent 5 years, some regularity cognations on the condition of the national mining exploration, mining geo-environment and mining programme has been exposed. Remote sensing technology has become one of the important skills in the management of the national concentration zones of the important mine. In addition, the orientations for further research in the field are discussed and forecast.
