Abstract To acquire the development situation of the metal mine and restore the environmental problems caused by the metal mine exploitation accurately and specifically, the mining situation and environmental pollution problems caused by the mining in Dexing, Shangrao of Jiangxi Province were investigated based on the ZY-3 remote sensing image data. After widely collecting the geological and mineral information, topographic data and remote sensing information, combining with the field survey and image features of different mining methods such as the surface, underground and unitized mining, the direct and indirect interpretation keys of metal mine development area were established. According to the image features and interpretation keys of different mining ground objects, the mining situation and the environmental problems of metal mine were interpreted by visual and human-computer interactive interpretation, and the mining conditions and environment information of mine exploitation under different time phase of study area were acquired. The statistical analysis of the different development area was made by using the ArcGIS spatial analysis model. According to the statistics data of the study area, environment damages such as the geological disasters, deforestation, polluted water and solid waste that caused by the mining were analyzed. The present characteristics, the targeted suggestions and the further development of mine environmental pollution were pointed out, providing a good reference to the mine environmental monitoring and environmental recovery engineering.
