Progresses and discoveries of geological survey on oil and gas resources related to the Upper Paleozoic in the western slope of Songliao Basin |

Abstract Based on the data of gravity-magnetic-electric-seismic geophysical survey and geological drilling results of geological survey wells in recent years, the geological conditions and geophysical properties of the target strata, overlying strata and its basement of the Upper Paleozoic are analyzed in the western slope of Songliao Basin. Characteristics of occurrence, rock assemblage and strata chronology of shale and mudstone related to the Permian under different types of T5 boundary of the study area are described. On the evaluation of TOC, Tmax, hydrocarbon generation potential and well logging data, Fuyu and Baoshan strict is realized to be the potential area of the target strata. The authors also discussed Triassic strata and its geological significance. The methods, which is focus on the difficulties and challenges about deep strata survey, is discussed on the respect of stratigraphy research, geophysical investigation, and the analysis of construction, deformation and reservation about the western slope with complexed structure and magma activities. Considering about the discovery of the heavy oil and helium, the idea of comprehensive survey on the total Basin, Huge geology, multi energy are suggested on the new era of commonweal oil and gas geological survey.
