Abstract The geological and storage conditions of geothermal resources in the western Liaocheng-Lankao fault zone of Heze City, Shandong province are surveyed during the geothermal resources evaluation in the study area. The primary exploitable geothermal resources are the layered fissure aquifers of Minghuazhen Formation, Guantao Formation and Dongying Formation. Based on the analysis of cap rock, heat source, heat-conducting structure and water flowing structure in these geothermal reservoirs, the total quantity of geothermal resources, single well production and reasonable well spacing are estimated. These provide useful recommendations for the reasonable and sustained development and exploitation of geothermal resources.
