Abstract The work methods and achievements on the metallogenic regularities of key metallogenic belts in China and adjacent areas are presented in this paper. Based on the study of the key metallogenic belts, some important geological problems in China and adjacent areas are discussed, and basic ideas and methods are proposed for the research of overseas geology and mineral resources, that is, the sequence of tectonic-magmatic-mineralization events should be established and comparison should be made with major geological events.
