Progress of Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology Survey in Karst Area of Northern China: An Example from Karst Area in Western Hills of Beijing

This paper is based on the results of geological survey project “Northern Karst Hydrogeological and Environment Geological Survey Demonstration”. The project choose Yuquanshan springshed, Heilongguan springshed and Yugudong springshed as working areas. Different techniques and methods are adopted in field survey, such as ground survey, remote sensing interpretation, geophysical prospecting, hydrogeological drilling, tracer test, water balance station observation, water chemistry and isotope method (δD, δ
18
O, C, δ
34
S and Sr), and a large number of first-hand data are obtained. Comprehensive study of the data(including the former data), the project makes such main progress: firstly, find out the Karst hydrogeological conditions and environmental problems about the working area and divide it into two aquifers, three Karst water systems and five sub systems; secondly, through carrying out equilibrium observation in the Heilongguan springshed, the precipitation infiltration coefficient is obtained in the carbonate exposed area of the Cambrian-Ordovician and Jixian system, and we evaluate the natural water resources and recoverable water resources by using the latest data; thirdly, we propose measures of the Karst water conservation and environmental governance from three aspects of policy, technology and engineering for outstanding Karst water environmental problems (including potential problems).

Progress of Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology Survey in Guangnan Karst Area, Yunnan Province

During the 1:50 000 hydrogeology and environmental geology survey of Jiumo, Dongbao, Majie and Nasajie in Guangnan area, Yunnan province, the regional hydrogeology conditions are found out, the groundwater system are divided and water resources are evaluated. The main water-rich areas are ascertained according to water resources distribution and tectonic conditions, and the groundwater zone is divided by basin unit in the working area. Integrated exploration and developing well construction and underground river development has notable effect on local drought resistance service, and the model of emergency drought resistance, water searching and well drilling is summarized.Drought and rocky desertification have been ascertained as main environmental geological problems in the working area. These provide basis for rational exploitation and utilization of groundwater resources, and comprehensive treatment of geological environment in Karst region of southwest China.

Metallogenic Regularities and Ore Controlling Factors of Carbonaceous- Siliceous-Pelitic Rock Type Uranium Deposits in Zoige

The Zoige carbonaceous-siliceous-pelitic rock type uranium deposits locate at the south subzone of western Qinling Mountains, which is one of the ten largest uranium resource bases in China. However, some problems still need to be answered, such as deep exploration, resource expansion and ore genesis. The shape, occurrence and distribution for ore bodies of Zoige carbonaceous-siliceous-pelitic rock type uranium deposits are summarized according to detailed field investigation and research in recently years. These layered, lenticular and lentil ore bodies mainly occur in Silurian low metamorphic siliceous rocks, limestone and slate, and these ore bodies are controlled by lithology, structure and siliceous limestone. It is proposed that the three essential ore controlling factors are fault structure, siliceous limestone and lithological boundary. It is inferred that the superimposed mineralization and deep fluid have important role in the formation of uranium deposits of Zoige area.

Characteristics of Organic Pollution of Shallow Groundwater in the Shandong Plain

The shallow groundwater is generally polluted by organics and many organic polluted areas have formed in the Shandong Plain. 29 kinds of organic pollutants are detected in samples of shallow groundwater from the study areas; the quality of groundwater deteriorates; the organic contents are over the qualitative limitation of drinking groundwater in some polluted areas. To evaluate the groundwater security, and protect the precious groundwater resources, this paper analyzed the species of organic pollutants and the pollution level of shallow groundwater in the Shandong Plain basing on integrated analysis of hydrogeological conditions and groundwater components.

Sedimentary Characteristics and Stratigraphic Age of Xingshikou Formation in Chengde Basin of Northern Hebei

The Wuchang section is used as a hypostratotype for the Xingshikou Formation in Hebei province within the limits of discontinuous stratigraphic sequence, complicated structure, and dyke intrusion of later stage. To reevaluate the Xingshifou Formation, the Niangniangmiao section which can be divided into two lithologic members in Shanggu town of Chengde County is surveyed. The lower member is coarse clastic sediment with gravel and interbedded sandstone lens, and the upper member is fine clastic sediment with sandstone, siltstone, silty mudstone and occasional one or two layer coal seams. The stratigraphic age of the Xingshikou Formation might be formed in Late Triassic according to paleontology assemblages, pollen assemblages and isotopic data.

Textures and Structures in the Eastern Hongliuguou-Lapeiquan Tectonic Melange Zone of Northern Altyn Area

The Early Paleozoic Hongliugou- Lapeiquan ophiolite melange zone is an important tectonic boundary in northern Altyn area. It is a key area for studying the subduction boundaries, tectonic evolution and regional framework reconstruction because of complex compositions, rich structures and frequent magmatism. During the 1:50 000 regional geological survey in Annanba of northern Altyn area, the spatial extension, material composition, textures and structures of the Hongliugou- Lapeiquan ophiolite melange zone have been revealed according to tectonic- lithologic mapping. Based on comprehensive study of typical structural profile and deformation events, the tectonic evolution of Altyn area in Early Paleozoic is discussed, which provides a theoretical possibility for establishing a structural model for general melange.

Discovery and Progress of Tongguer Formation in Chaganaobao Area of Sonid Left Banner, Inner Mongolia

During the 1:50 000 regional geological survey in Chaganaobao area of Sonid Left Banner in Xilinguole League, Inner Mongolia, the newly discovered fluvio-lacustrine sedimentary formation are mainly composed of marl, limestone, conglomerate, sandy conglomerate and fine sandstone. Besides, a lot of gastropods, bivalve, ostracods, and a large number of plant debris and animal bones fossils are discovered in the study strata. The sedimentary formation is part of the Tongguer Formation of Miocene of Neogene according to the analysis of lithological assemblage and fossil identification. It is proposed that the northern margin of Erlian basin locates at the Wurigentalabaga area of Chaganaobao town, and the Erlian depression form in Miocene according to the existence of Tongguer Formation in the study area.

Genesis Analysis of Fault Creep Type Ground Fissures in the Hebei Plain

A lot of ground fissures have occurred in Hebei Plain since 1980s. Some of them have extensive damage to the buildings and roads, and have serious damage to the people’s life and property. The fault creep type ground fissures are characterized by long stretch, great depth, serious destruction, and difficult prevention and control. It is suggested that more attention should be paid to the fault creep type ground fissures which have important significance in the research and control of ground fissures in Hebei Plain. Based on wide filed investigations, two typical fault creep type ground fissures (the Longyao and Xin-An-Shen-Rao) are selected from more than 800 ground fissures. The genesis is preliminary analyzed according to the comprehensive method of geophysical prospecting, trenching and other exploration. It is proposed that the fault creep type ground fissures are controlled by fault activities of study area; the deep tectonic activities provide dynamic foundation for the formation of ground fissures; the activities of ground and surface water promote the opening and development of ground fissures.

Evaluation of Geothermal Resources in the Western Liaocheng-Lankao Fault Zone of Heze City, Shandong Province

The geological and storage conditions of geothermal resources in the western Liaocheng-Lankao fault zone of Heze City, Shandong province are surveyed during the geothermal resources evaluation in the study area. The primary exploitable geothermal resources are the layered fissure aquifers of Minghuazhen Formation, Guantao Formation and Dongying Formation. Based on the analysis of cap rock, heat source, heat-conducting structure and water flowing structure in these geothermal reservoirs, the total quantity of geothermal resources, single well production and reasonable well spacing are estimated. These provide useful recommendations for the reasonable and sustained development and exploitation of geothermal resources.

Techniques and Systems for Large-depth and Multi-function Electromagnetic Survey

The large-depth, multi-function electromagnetic survey system is composed of the multi-function electromagnetic detection equipment, the techniques for data acquisition and processing and the software for electromagnetic two or three dimensional positive inversion simulation. Based on a study of its corresponding key technologies, a distributed multi-function receiver prototype is developed. Accordingly, the high-power multi-function intelligent transmitting prototype and the three component high temperature superconducting magnetic sensor are also designed and developed. As a result, the matched data acquisition, processing, and interpreting technology of the multi-function electromagnetic system have been successfully resolved. The system has the measurement function of AMT, MT, CSAMT and IP. A number of good results have achieved in comparative trail between the self-developed system and the GDP-32

system, and the application of typical mine areas.
